Yes! Our customer service department will need to verify your military status. Please use the Contact Us form, include that you are military, and a customer service rep will follow up with you.

You will receive an email confirmation when your order is submitted. The order confirmation will summarize the items purchased, total amount of the purchase, payment method, shipping method and shipping address. Once your order ships, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, which will include your tracking number. If you do not receive an order or shipping confirmation email, check your spam or junk email folder first, then contact us by email at orders@dockslocks.com. You can also view tracking numbers once your order has shipped by logging into your customer account.

The DocksLocks Return Policy lasts 30 days - if 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we unfortunately cannot offer you a refund or exchange. Please refer to our Return Policy for more details.

To initiate a return and obtain an RMA number, please go to the returns page and click "Start a return"  form and provide your order number and the specific products you need to return (if you are not returning all products purchased). PLEASE NOTE: All returns must be approved in advance and must include a supplied Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. Returns received outside of the allowed return window or without an RMA number are not eligible for a refund.

For all eligible domestic orders, return shipping is FREE! We will provide a pre-paid return label. For international orders, customers are responsible for return shipping – all duties, fees and taxes must be pre-paid. We are unable to accept C.O.D. You should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We do not guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

The cable going through the metal ring keeps the jaws closed, and thereby locked. When you push the ring into the base/housing of the Jaws, it extends the Jaws and allows the metal tip to open. When you pull the ring out of the base/housing, then the jaws will close. When the cable is run through the ring, you are unable to push the ring into the base/housing.

Just about anything - a roof rack, dock piling, tree, park bench, bike rack, you name it. As long as you find a secure and stationary object, your board will be secure. 

Yes! this is one of the unique characteristics of the DocksLocks Security system. As long as you have one Jaws Lock per board, you will only need one security cable, assuming the cable is the correct length. Simply attached a Jaws Lock to each board, then run the security cable through each Jaws Lock. 

There are two options. First, the Jaws Lock can attach to an installed fin box cleat. These are included with systems and also sold separately. We recommend this method as it is the most secure. The second option is a leash plug bar. Keep in mind, the Jaws Lock will only work on metal leash plug bars. While very convenient, we do not recommend the leash plug as the attachment point during long term storage

Not necessarily, but we certainly do not recommend surfing or paddleboard with the Jaws Lock attached to your board. Remember, the Jaws Lock will only be secured to your board if a security cable is running through the metal ring at the top of the Jaws. In this case, the security cable would be dragging or banging against your board. If you remove the security cable, then the Jaws Lock will not be secured to your board, fall off and then most likely be lost. 

Yes! All components of the security system, including the paddle lock in the Deluxe system, are made from weatherproof materials. 

The Fin Box Cleat uses a one-way tensioner screw. While this can technically be removed, it requires a lot of patience and specific tools. This is why we recommend that you are certain of the position of the fin box cleat before tightening the screw. 

The ring diameter is 10mm. 

No. As long as enough of the leash plug bar is exposed for the tip of the Jaws Lock to attach to, you do not need to remove your leash. 

The combination lock is easy to change and lock/unlock. Detailed instructions are included with each purchase. You can also find the directions here

The only way to unlock our combination locks is with the code you set. If we had a master code or skeleton key, it would significantly reduce the security of our cables and locks.

This all depends on your particular situation. You will need to measure the length through which you intend to use the security cable. Do not forget that the security cable will need to circle back to the beginning for the male and female ends of the lock to meet. The longest security cable we currently offer is 25ft. If you need a longer security cable, our combination lock cables can be daisy chained together. And remember, measure twice to ensure accuracy. 

Most DocksLocks security cables are uniquely designed to fit though narrow spaces. Unlike most security cables, the male end of the cable is the same diameter as the cable itself allowing the cable to pass through narrow spaces such as kayak and paddleboard scupper holes. However, not all DocksLocks security cables feature this design. For example, the security cables with looped ends. Please refer to the specific product page for more details.

The vinyl coating provides multiple benefits to DocksLocks security cables. First, the vinyl coating enhances the weatherproof characteristics of the cable and further protects the cables from the elements and corrosion. Second, since braided steel is not soft or forgiving when it comes into contact with another object, the vinyl coating prevents the cable from scratching or damaging the items you are securing. Finally, the classic blue vinyl coating to DocksLocks security cables gives them a unique and appealing look while putting thieves on notice that the item is secured. 

Braided steel offers significantly more strength and cut resistance, thereby maximizing theft prevention. More specifically, braided steel is less susceptible to shearing and has extremely high tensile strength. 

Yes! DocksLocks security cables are a proven theft deterrent for bicycles. Not only are the cables flexible and easy to maneuver through and around a bike, but the weatherproof and durable characteristics of DocksLocks security cables allow you to use the security cable without fear of corrosion. 

All DocksLocks security cables are weatherproof and designed to withstand the elements. The locking mechanism on some cables are weather resistant and will need additional care to ensure a long lifespan. We recommend rinsing the locking mechanism with fresh water when exposed to salt water and applying a water-repelling lubricant (such as WD40). Refer to the product page for care instructions. 

The coiled cable allows the cable to contract, which allows for easy storage and prevents excess cable from dragging while in use. For example, imagine using the security cable on the top of your car. While driving, the coiled cable will not bounce around and potentially damage your car because it is coiled up, whereas the straight security cable will potentially move around. However, some people prefer the straight cable since it is easier to maneuver through multiple openings. The decision between straight or coiled cable ultimately comes down to the specific need and item you are securing and personal preference.
